Join us on our trip to Cambridge, Ohio to explore Dickens Victorian Village on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
We will board our 55-passenger motor coach (with restroom) 6:00 – 6:30 AM. We will have a continental breakfast on the coach as we travel. (Bring your own caffeine – juice and water will be provided.) As we travel through our day there will be snacks available.
About 10:30 AM we will arrive at the Cambridge McDonald’s where you may use the restroom and purchase more caffeine if desired! A costumed guide will meet us here. Our guide will be with us throughout our day and entertain us with stories of Dickens Victorian Village as well as information about Cambridge and the area. We will have a driving tour of downtown Cambridge with all the mannequin scenes to start the day.
Our next stop will be the Dickens Welcome Center. The Welcome Center is located in the oldest house in town – Victorian, of course. There we can dress in Victorian costumes and have pictures taken for memories. We will see how mannequin heads are made, and wander through the unique gift shop.
You will then have time to walk the streets of Cambridge to see the mannequins up close and read the plaques that describe their relationship to Victorian times, visit the shops, and purchase your own lunch.
After lunch we will board the coach to go to the Guernsey County Historical Museum. We will see the history of the local area in the oldest frame house in Cambridge. We will hear the story of “A Coal Miners Christmas” by Dave Adair and be guided through a one-room school lesson by an old-fashioned teacher.
Our next stop will be the National Museum of Cambridge Glass. We will be greeted by costumed guides that will tell about the history of Cambridge Glass. We will view a film from the 40s taken at the original Cambridge Glass Co. Then we can try paper etching from original plates, and enjoy all the sparkling glass displays.
Our visit to Cambridge will end with the spectacular Courthouse Holiday Light Show.  This beautiful courthouse is lit with over 5,000 lights which are synchronized to holiday music. These can be viewed from the coach or from seats on the courthouse lawn.
We will return our guide to McDonald’s and depart about 6:30 PM. We will eat our “sack” dinner on our ride home. You will have your choice of a sandwich or salad, chips, fruit cup, cookies, and water.
We should be back in Noblesville about 10:30 PM. Yes, you can nap on the bus!
Payment in full by cash or check ($100.00 for members or $130.00 for non-members) is due at the time of making your reservation. A waiting list will be maintained when our limit of 55 people has been reached. If you must cancel and we have someone on the waiting list or you can find someone to take your place, you will receive a full refund. If there is no one to take your spot, we will refund all but the cost of the coach. Please direct all inquiries to Phyllis.
